Seasonal Game

From October through to February, the shopfront is adorned with locally shot Game. We are situated in a very strong game shooting area, and indeed it was this love of Game meat and her success at running "Pennant Valley Game", that allowed Izzy to take the opportunity of running the butcher's shop in Llanrhaeadr. We remain true to these roots and still process all of our Game on site. We place huge emphasis on promoting Game and providing a versatile range, to encourage as many people as possible to take up eating Game. Team

We are a small team, comprising of 4 in the shop. Izzy, is the owner and general dogsbody. She took over the running of the shop in March 2020. Before this a career in Game keeping, had evolved into a Game meat business. Processing and selling Game products in the local area, at Farmers Market and online. Still hugely passionate about Game and the countryside, these influences can be clearly seen in the shop.

Our Head Butcher is Llanrhaeadr born and bred, Mark "Sparky" Evans. He learnt his trade in this very shop the best part of 40 years ago, and is still at the block today turning prime carcasses into top quality joints. His expertise are obvious in the form of immaculately tied roasting joints in the counter, as well as his knowledge regarding the older methods of whole carcass butchery.

On a weekend you will be met by the pleasant smile and manner of Julia. She manages the front of house, keeping the display looking tip top and serving customers with the utmost care and attention.

The most recent team member is local girl Emily Morris. Em joined us in November 2023 and is undertaking a 2 year apprenticeship in Butchery.
