Some information is available to view on our About us page. However for those people who don’t know us, here is a bit of background information……
Izzy’s Butchers is run by myself, Izzy Hosking. I took over the business in March 2020, after my predecessor David Keegan returned to his native Ireland. Mr Keegan had run the Butchers here in Llanrhaeadr for 14 years, previous to him the shop was under the Ownership of Mr Roger Evans, and before that Mr Will Evans, Rogers Father. So there has been a Butchers shop at this premises for as long as living memory serves.
On hearing of Mr Keegan’s plans to move away, I was very keen on the idea of running my own butchers, I had cut my teeth on running my own small business “Pennant Valley Game” for the previous 10 years. Processing and selling Game meat products at various different venues and farmers markets.
Although not experienced in traditional butchery I was lucky to inherit a very good butcher in the form of Mark “Sparky” Evans. My influence shines through in the shop displays by the way of seasonal game and more innovative concepts, matched by the excellence of Mark’s Old School Butchery techniques.
Now 2 years into my proprietorship we now also offer Hog Roast and BBQ catering. We are always looking for new and exciting lines for the shop. Whether that be new concepts for meat, or new product line. Something we are investigating for the near future is to stock a collection of Welsh Cheeses, even possibly wine to match?
We place emphasis on sourcing local, quality, Welsh meat. We take our time and pride in preparing it. We hope to live up to, and surpass your expectations of great meat.
